IMPORTANT: THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING PAPERS OR POSTERS FOR THE WAFLA INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE HAS BEEN EXTENDED
Due to the great interest shown by the academic sector, students and researchers throughout the continent, the Scientific and Organizing Committees of the WAFLA International Conference which will take place on January 20, 21 and 22, 2009 in Santiago, have agreed to extend the deadline for submissions until September 30, 2008.

Call for Papers
Authors wishing to present a paper or a poster are invited to send an abstract in English or Spanish before August 15th, 2008.
Themes for papers are:
1. Agro Forestry for controlling land degradation and desertification
2. Agro Forestry for adaptation to climate change
3. Structure and composition of Agro Forestry Systems in dry lands
4. Agro Forestry for provision of environmental services in dry lands
5. Options for improved water management with Agro Forestry in dry lands
6. Agro Forestry Systems for improving livelihoods and food security in dry land areas
7. Added value and market chain of Agro Forestry products in dry land areas
8. Capacity building, and networking
9. Policies and incentive schemes for Agro Forestry adoption in dry land areas
The abstracts should be limited to approximately 500 words and a maximum of two sides of A4 page to be inclusive of diagrams or illustrations if required. They should state the following information clearly:
• The background and nature of issue or problem being addressed
• Summary of findings and results
• The significance, impact or effect, findings will have on improving agroforestry systems and integrated water management in arid and semi-arid areas.
Authors will be notified of acceptance of their papers/posters by 15 September, 2008.
The deadline for the submission of full papers is October 31, 2008.
All submissions must be original and should not have been previously accepted for publication in a journal, presented in another conference or be under review at another conference.
The reviewed and selected papers will be published in a peer review journal, and the format of the final paper should follow the specified journal guidelines.
